How many people have heard of MirrorLink? It was an automotive mirroring program that existed before CarPlay, essentially the predecessor to Android Auto. Perhaps due to its notoriously poor user experience, most people wouldn't even consider using it.
Some car head units only support MirrorLink. If owners want CarPlay functionality, they'd have to install a decoder box in the glove compartment or replace the entire head unit.
That's why our team developed a wireless adapter that enables CarPlay functionality through MirrorLink—completely plug-and-play, provided your head unit supports MirrorLink.
Our prototype has now been successfully tested on the touch2 head unit, with a very smooth connection. But we're still refining the product. Next, we plan to integrate a microphone into the device, allowing users to activate voice control features.
